The Chicago Chamber orchestra personnel has always been as diversified as its audiences and its repertoire. Young people have not only had their first exposure to classical music as listeners, but also as performers with the Chicago Chamber Orchestra. Former orchestra members have held and are still holding key positions in the U.S. and abroad. (Burton Fine, Boston Symphony Viola Principal, Howard Weiss, Rochester Philharmonic Concertmaster, Larry Grika, Philadelphia Orchestra, Paul Ondracek, Zurich Opera, Humbert Lucarelli, Concert Oboist).

Washington McClain, principal oboist and soloist of acclaimed Canadian “Tafelmusik”, first heard the Chicago Chamber Orchestra as a youngster on Chicago’s southside, later joined it, gaining first professional experience as member and soloist. Members of the Chicago Chamber Orchestra’s conducting staff obtained valuable initial experience under the guidance of music director Kober.
